Dr. Myrna Dawson and Tina Hotton, a Research Associate at the Centre, participated in the 2012 Crime Prevention Conference in Mississauga Friday. Their session ‘Re-examining the Criminal Justice Response to Intimate Partner Violence’ featured their collaborative research comparing police charging practices in incidents of intimate partner violence across Canada using data from the Uniform Crime Reporting Survey. Dawson also presented an overview of the work of the Ontario Domestic Violence Death Review Committee on which she sits as a member, summarizing findings from the past nine years of reviews. The conference was sponsored by SafeCity Mississauga.
