CSSLRV Director Myrna Dawson took up a Visiting Scholar position this week at the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Griffith University Gold Coast Campus in Queensland, Australia. The CCJ Visiting Scholars Program is designed to improve the development and networking of Griffith researchers with other scholars with an international reputation in their field. While there, Dawson will concentrate on two areas of her research: first, the examination of recommendations arising from domestic violence death review committees and, second, an international examination of the role of intimacy in law’s response to violence. This is Dawson’s third prestigious visiting scholar position in Australia where she regularly presents her research and consults with various government and community agencies. Dawson is a Professor, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, and a Canada Research Chair in Public Policy in Criminal Justice.
