Sociology professor Myrna Dawson delivered an international presentation this week as part of the 16 Days of Activism for Violence Against Women. Her paper presented to the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, was on “Understanding the role of the state in femicide prevention: Recognition, accountability and education.” The colloquium entitled, Femicide Rising Globally: The Urge for Effective Legislation, was organized to increase education and awareness of femicide among European Parliamentarians. Dawson spoke on the global situation alongside speakers from UN Women, South Africa, India, Mexico, and Belgium.
