A newly-released book called Homicide, Gender and Responsibility: An International Perspective features a chapter by CSSLRV Director Myrna Dawson who examines the use of and validity of stereotypes in law’s response to homicide with a specific focus on intimacy and gender. Dawson is the only Canadian contributor to the collection published by Routledge and edited by Kate Fitz Gibbons, Deakin University, Australia, and Sandra Walklate, University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. The book provides a unique contribution by analysing the crime of homicide in a variety of different social contexts alongside an in-depth and critical analysis of the interconnections between the ordinary act of lethal violence, gender and notions of responsibility.
