Dr. Myrna Dawson and PhD student, Julie Poon, presented their research on specialized domestic violence courts at Congress 2012 held at the University of Waterloo. Their first paper featured research by Poon conducted for her Master’s research that examined sole and dual charging of women and men in intimate partner violence incidents processed by the courts. Their second paper focused on the evolution of one specialized domestic violence court over seven years, highlighting trends and patterns in cases processed. Dawson also presented with Western University colleagues, Dr. Peter Jaffe and Marcie Campbell, in a session she organized on domestic violence death review committees.
